"I enjoy the way food brings people together, whether it be at a restaurant or even in school. I made so many friends by just striking up a conversation about food."

2009 Graduate, Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary Management, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh
Christina Meyer has joined the mobile food movement—she’s working as a kitchen manager for Mobi Munch in Los Angeles. And after she preps for the day, orders supplies, and oversees the kitchen, she drives the food truck to its destination which might be a food truck festival, studio at lunch time, or concert. “We serve food until the event is over,” she says.
Christina, who in 2009 earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary Management from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, adds that she gets paid to do what she loves. “I enjoy the way food brings people together, whether it be at a restaurant or even in school. I made so many friends by just striking up a conversation about food.”
Looking back on her education at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Christina adds that her teachers helped to prepare her for the real world of culinary arts. “Being a student at The Art Institute (of Pittsburgh) isn’t just about learning one creative skill, it is about balancing that skill with other general education studies,” she says. Christina believes that being well-rounded is key to success in culinary arts. “Your career is not about just perfecting the one skill you are good at, it is about finding yourself in a variety of ways. You are not just copying what other chefs or painters did before you, you are creating your own style and personality based on everything you know.”
